The University of Wollongong (UOW) welcomes the NSW Government’s announcement today on a revised plan to start returning international students to New South Wales (NSW). We have missed the many contributions international students make to our community and are looking forward to having them back on campus.

The pilot plan is a joint undertaking between the NSW Government, Study NSW and all NSW and Australian Capital Territory (ACT) universities and aims to see 500 fully vaccinated* students return before December 2021.
We understand that many current and future UOW students are keen to find out more details, including whether they will be eligible to return under the plan. We are currently finalising details and will communicate this information to students and partners in the coming weeks.
We also ask you to remind students that a valid student visa is required for entry to Australia and therefore essential for participation in the pilot program. Visit the Australian Government Study Australia website and the Department of Home Affairs website for frequently asked questions and answers regarding student visas.
While the pilot will initially only bring a small number of eligible international students back to Australia, it's an important milestone that will lay the foundation for the safe return of more students into the future. For overseas international students who are unable to participate in the initial pilot, UOW will continue to provide remote and online learning options for as long as is required, and where it is possible for us to do so.
