昆士兰唯一的移民法学位的第一批毕业生今日(7月20日)将从格里菲斯大学毕业。

　　格里菲斯大学是澳洲开设移民法课程的四所大学之一。

　　课程协调员Janine McMaster-Kirkwood说，澳大利亚移民法与实践研究生证书满足了人们希望注册成为澳洲移民代理的需求。

　　“移民代理注册管理处(MARA)挑选了格里菲斯大学法律系开设移民法课程，培养具有高水准的澳洲移民法专业知识的大学讲师，” Janine McMaster-Kirkwood女士提到。

　　“格里菲斯大学法律系也由于本科毕业生不断的在难民语移民法律服务处接受实践培训，所以大学与当地的移民部门建立了牢固的关系。”

　　近20名学生今日即将毕业，其中还有美国哈德森技术与工程的招聘专业人士克里斯。

　　克里斯说他学习这门课程是想在这个重要的领域提升自身的技能。

　　“移民法的重要之处就在于它是为澳洲的领土起到保护作用的基础架构。”

　　“当今国际，澳洲严格控制人口的流动是至关重要的，但是也需要基本的制度保护人们的权利，并提供法律途径去控诉不利的决策。”

　　“我的工作就是开展国际人才招聘项目，我觉得为客户提供可信和有说服力的签证和移民建议的一些时候，确实需要相应的知识、技能和资格，而技能——只有这门研究生证书才能提供给我。”

　　克里斯计划通过应用这门课程所学增强哈德森的国际招聘能力(以及他自己的事业)，为客户提供全方位的服务，为同事提供建议和指导。

　　Queensland's first migration experts graduate

　　The first students to complete Queensland’s only migration law degree program will graduate from Griffith University today (Friday, July 20).

　　Griffith is one of only four universities nationally to offer a migration law program.

　　Program Convenor Janine McMaster-Kirkwood said the Graduate Certificate in Australian Migration Law and Practice was a requirement for people seeking registration as an Australian Migration Agent.

　　"The Migration Agents Registration Authority (MARA) selected the Griffith Law School to develop the program as the university’s lecturers have a high level of Australian migration law expertise," Ms McMaster – Kirkwood said.

　　"The Griffith Law School also has strong ties to the local migration sector through its undergraduate clinical program running at the Refugee and Immigration Legal Service, which provides our students with practical training."

　　Nearly 20 students will graduate, including recruitment specialist with Hudson Technical and Engineering Chris Logan.

　　Chris said he enrolled in the program to upgrade his skills in this important area.

　　"Migration law is important as it is the primary mechanism that provides protection of Australia’s borders," Chris said.

　　"In the current global climate, strict control of the people entering and remaining in Australia is vital, but also needs to be balanced with a framework that protects people’s rights and legal avenues to appeal unfavourable decisions.

　　"In my role I conduct international recruitment projects. I felt for some time that to provide credible and valid advice to clients on Visas and Migration I really needed the appropriate knowledge, skills and qualifications – skills that only the Graduate Certificate could provide."

　　Chris plans to use the qualification to advance Hudson’s international recruitment capabilities (and his career) to provide a holistic range of services to clients, as well as advice and guidance to his colleagues.

　　"The Griffith lecturers insightful, ‘real-life’ experiences provided clarity to what otherwise would have been a complex and confusing range of laws and concepts," Chris said.

　　"I would like to thank Griffith University, in particular Janine McMaster-Kirkwood for her flexibility, advice and assistance throughout the course."
