International conference explores legal framework for e-Research
The challenge of developing a legal framework governing the exchange of information amongst researchers in the new online world will be explored at a conference hosted by Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
Leader of the Legal Framework for e-Research Project Professor Brian Fitzgerald said the conference aimed to examine legal issues related to e-research such as data sharing, research contracts, patent licensing and privacy with a view to highlighting their importance in e-research and how the issues could be better formulated and managed.
"The global e-research community is keenly aware of the increasing importance of collaborative innovation," he said.
"We are being challenged to consider it at every level of research endeavour and take an active role in its adoption."
2003 Australian of the Year Professor Fiona Stanley AC will lead seven international speakers from diverse fields including human genome technology transfer and child health research.
