VU's Vice Chancellor Professor Elizabeth Harman says that the announcement in the Victorian Government's Budget that they will allocate $367 million to build Victoria's skill advantage is good news.
Professor Harman said: "Funding that encourages more students to take up and, more importantly complete a trade, and boost the skills of the workforce will address the current skills shortage and be of great benefit to Victoria's future economy."
She also welcomed the announcement of $48 million to continue the modernisation of TAFE teaching equipment, allowing institutes to keep pace with the new and emerging technology.
Professor Harman said: "Without the right modern cutting edge equipment in institutions teaching vocational education, students will not be able to get the real skills they need to be job ready when they complete their courses."
