We all know that there is one round of the Star of Outlook English Competition that is called the talent show. I used to be very shy and never dare to sing in front of people. I have never dream that I can sing English song at the English competition. I liked to choose to tell a story or recite a poem. But this year Mom let me try singing. You know that I am not even be chosen to be the choir practice in the school!
When we decided that I was going to performance the song, we started to choose the right one from my CD disks. I remember the last year at the summer camp; Mrs. Fenton taught us a song “when Christmas comes to town”. It was a very sweet song. I like it very much also because I miss my first Christmas. Even now I still set up the Christmas tree and put all the ornaments on it and set a cup of milk for reindeer at the Christmas Eve. So I decided to choose this. But practicing didn’t go as well as I expected. I was humming instead of singing. It was so soft even my mom couldn’t hear it clearly. And sometimes the song was out of tone.
When I was about to give up, mum reminded me of Abby’s story. Be Optimistic and work hard. Then we will have fun and enjoy it. I was invited to my music teacher’s home. He praised me and encouraged me. He liked my way of singing. He thinks that I sang naturally and full of real feeling. So I kept practicing. I didn’t give up.
You know what, that I have the highest mark at the competition with the song “when Christmas comes to town”. “No pain, no gain.” That is the lesson that I learn from the competition.
