DIY加拿大留学签证 Study Plan范文模板

Study Plan

  Dear Visa Officer,

My name is XXX. I am a senior undergraduate of YY University. This study plan will provide an outline of my plan for my two-year graduate study in Canada and career objective in China, to strength my application for student visa to study a Master of Applied Science program in Materials Engineering at University of British Columbia.

  Background

As we can see from the fact that the foundation of a country’s industries relies on the development of materials and metallurgy, I strongly believe that the Metallurgical Engineering will be one of the most promising professions in China in the near future. Thus, I chose Metallurgical Engineering as my major when I entered YY University-one of the best universities in this field. During the past years, I completed all the main courses with distinction. Thus, I was chosen to join in R&D Lab of CIGS Solar Cells of my department last September, which is a rewarding preparation for my further study. In order to pursue a better career in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, I plan to continue my study in a graduate program.

My choice of studying in Canada

I choose Canada without any hesitation. Firstly, the diplomas issued by Canadian education institutions are recognized internationally. Compared with the one holding a master degree in a Chinese university, a graduate holding a same degree from Canada is much more competitive. Secondly, it is well known that Canada has a more peaceful and harmonious environment for studying and it is rich in educational resources comparing to other countries. In China one supervisor usually supervises a dozen graduate students, which limits the amount of interaction between the supervisor and each student. Finally, studying in Canada may be one year shorter to obtain a Master Degree: one to two years in Canada versus three years in China.

The reason for my choosing to study Materials Engineering at University of British Columbia

Before making this decision, I have been recommended as a graduate in YY University without being required to take an entrance examination. However, by communicating with my undergraduate instructor-Prof. Z, a visiting-scholar at UBC last year, and browsing the website of its Department of Materials Engineering, I believe UBC is a better choice. University of British Columbia is one of the top universities in the world and its materials programs are always keeping a world-wide illustrious position, especially in hydrometallurgy. Unlike Chinese universities, UBC places more emphases on the combination of practice and knowledge. So Prof. Z strongly recommends me to study at UBC and not to miss this wonderful opportunity.

For an international graduate student, the available financial support is also a factor when choosing a university for further study. It is very nice that I successfully get financial supports from UBC in the form of Graduate Research Assistantship of $16,500/year and International Partial Tuition Scholarship of $3,100/year. As a complement, my mum also has sufficient deposits for me to cover my rest tuition fees, airline tickets and unpredictable expenditures.

  Overall Educational Goal

Under the supervision of Prof. D-the Canada Hydrometallurgy Chair, I hope I can make a difference in graduate study as those Vancouver Olympic heroes. Apart from acquiring advanced research skills and methodologies, I want to grasp the wonderful opportunity to broaden my horizons and cultivate global thinking ways. Improving my English efficiently in Canada is also my goal, as English is the first working language in international business and also is one of the official languages of Canada. Moreover, I plan to develop a character allowing me to enter society with full confidence upon my graduation. With the opportunity, I am sure I will achieve my goal when completing my program in Canada.

Return to China and Career Objective

I always put my family first. Years ago mum got divorced, and since then she brought me up alone. Now mum is over fifty years old and she could not be young any more. Going back to China and repaying mum with excellent care in her late years is my responsibility and obligation. What’s more, my root is in China, where I was born and growing up. Here I have already harvested plenty of friendship, which can provide favorable and familiar circumstances not only for my daily life but also for my career.

Meanwhile, the industry and economy of China are developing at a high speed. According to the data from Ministry of Industry and Information of China, in 2009 China’s overall output of ten non-ferrous metals is about 26.81 million ton with an increase about 5.8%. It is inspiring that my motherland will present real opportunities to someone returning to her armed with a first-rate Canadian graduate education. After my return to China, I expect to start my career in a joint venture or multinational company, such as Alcoa and ArcelorMittal, both of which show an urgent demand of well-trained professionals with advanced technical background, great English proficiency and broad international perspectives. So I will have better opportunities in the Chinese labor market and greater chances to eventually take up a leading position in an area of China’s industries, just like my alumnus WANG Chuanfu- the preside of BYD, who is the richest Chinese according 2010 Rupert Hoogewerf Report.

Based on my own experience and strong study motive, I really hope that you will approve my application. Thank you very much!

  Yours sincerely,
