Make a difference by planting trees

Murdoch University is looking for volunteers to help plant trees that will provide food and shelter for campus wildlife.

Murdoch University's Environmental Officer Caroline Minton said staff, students and members of the community are encouraged to take part.

"We hope to plant 600 trees, shrubs and understorey plants, including marris, jarrah, sheoaks and banksias," Ms Minton said.

The planting is the first stage of a wildlife corridor that will be used to join Chelodina Wetland and Banksia Woodland areas on campus that form part of the Beeliar Regional Park.

"The corridor will eventually provide food and shelter for Carnaby cockatoos, quenda and other campus wildlife."

Participants are encouraged to wear closed-in shoes, appropriate clothing for the weather and bring drinking water and gardening gloves if possible.
